Chef Martin Yan to Receive Masters of Taste Award

San Francisco, California – Chefs In America will honor Chef Martin Yan with their prestigious Maitre du Gout (Master of Taste) Award at Macy’s Cellar Kitchen in San Francisco as part of the Chinese New Year Celebration on Saturday, February 11, commencing at 2:00pm. The award will be bestowed just prior to Chef Martin Yan’s demonstration at Macy’s Union Square, Lower Level, Cellar Kitchen at 170 O’Farrell Street, San Francisco, California. The demonstration portion of the event runs until 3:00pm. The event is subject to change or cancellation. Seating is first come, first served.

Martin Yan, Chef and partner of M.Y. China restaurant will receive the Master of Taste Award as well as demonstrate his approach to traditional Chinese cuisine. The Master of Taste Award is only bestowed to Chefs who have demonstrated expertise that embraces all culinary pursuits, including a deep, practical understanding of cuisines from around the world. In addition, past award winning Chefs have used their massive palate memory, derived from decades of taste exposure and evaluatory thought, to create dishes that are unique, but also deeply rooted in tradition.

Chef Yan is a certified Master Chef and has contributed his talents to 30 cookbooks. A valued instructor at top culinary institutions, including the California Culinary Academy, Le Cordon Bleu and Johnson & Wales University, Chef Yan is also a restaurateur bringing Chinese culinary tradition and culture to light via an authentic, modern dining experience.

Chefs In America, a 30 year old national Chef Organization, headquartered here in the Bay Area, that has bestowed Gold Medal awards to superior food and beverage products as well as to exemplary Chefs nationwide for decades.
